August 9 - 15, 2010
This week's scripture verse: "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
(Matthew 6:19-20).
As you reflect, consider how other stuff is getting in the way of the eternal. Do you allow material things and the busyness of life to draw your attention and time away from people, relationship building, and gospel sharing? In Sunday's video, Ron Regenstreif shared how his eyes opened to his own adoption of a lifestyle of excess things (75 pairs of pants!) and too little ministry.
Think about heaven this week. Think about investing and storing up your treasure there--where it will last. That treasure is people, not only those now closest to you, but people on the other side of town or other side of the world who don't yet know the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ. You could take them with you to heaven! We could all have a good time together there forever!
Let's reflect, be convicted, receive grace, and then take a specific commitment step like Ron did. You could do a volunteer ministry job in our city or take a missions trip and see people's needs face to face. It will move you, change you, motivate you, convict you. And, of course, you can treasure the three people on your list and spend time with or for them.
Most of all, be encouraged that Jesus crucified the consumptive lifestyle. Be encouraged that every believer is united with Him and will become more and more like Him. It's His gift.
Grace and peace to you in Christ Jesus our Lord,
Pastor Bruce Anderson

Colossians: Gaining a "true Knowledge" of Christ
What does it mean to be "complete in Christ"?
Is Christ your "all in all"?
Does
He meet all your needs?
Don't let anyone delude you with man-made philosophies
or traditions that contradict the Word of God.
Beginning September 8, we'll examine the book of Colossians during this 12-week
Precepts inductive Bible study, which meets in the Den on Wednesday mornings at
9:00. Your cost is just $27 for the textbook.
For more information and to reserve
your workbook, email Roger Pence
August 27 at 7 PM in the Fellowship Hall
... a special evening of prayer, fellowship, authentic Eastern cuisine
plus an international fashion show!
Ladies, as part of our 30 Days of Prayer for the Muslim world, we invite you to
join us for this very special and unique prayer tea. We guarantee this will be like
no prayer gathering you've ever attended!
We'll dine as they do in the East (you'll have to come to find out what that means!)
on exotic teas and light eastern cuisine! Then our special guest speaker, KPCšs
very own Christina, will explain the common ground we share with Muslim women,
the unique issues they face, and how we can relate and pray together for them.
We'll finish the evening with an international fashion show, giving you a feel for
the cultural dress that many Muslim women wear.
Although the evening is entirely free, any and all donations will go directly toward
sending Christina to Central Asia. Women of all ages (including teens) are welcome!
Childcare will not be provided.
Email Dana for details.
The Usher, Greeter, and Café Ministries of KPC
The phrase "PUT YOUR HANDS TO WORK AND HEARTS TO GOD " reflects the essence of KPC's
Usher, Greeter, and Café Ministries.
You've no doubt seen these hands working busily to encourage, to help, to enhance,
and to serve our body of believers. These hands move quickly at the front door when
greeting other hands. These hands work efficiently when handing out information,
holding an offering plate, making coffee, setting up, and cleaning up. These hands
are deliberately occupied and filled. YOUR HANDS are needed too.
Your hands can slide right into ministry at KPC.
There are openings right now for
Sunday morning ushers and greeters. Just think, your kind smile and friendly handshake
just might make someone's day.
The Café workers need some extra hands too. Let a
Café leader, a greeter leader, or an usher leader know that your hands are ready
to serve.
In addition, you can email Chris or call
her at the church (495-1913 ext 250).
Special Reception on Sunday, Aug 29 at 1PM in the Fellowship Hall.
After 5 years in Germany, Phil and Diane Thrash will be returning to the U.S. after
successfully planting a thriving church in Berlin. The church has been turned over
to a German national pastor with an outstanding core leadership team.
Phil has
just been appointed as Eastern Associate for Missions Advancement for EPC World
Outreach, where he will be recruiting and helping to send teams from EPC churches
to unengaged parts of the world. He will also take on the role of prayer coordinator,
organizing a network of prayer covering for EPC workers on the field.
Please join us as we welcome home Phil and Diane Thrash at a special reception on
Sunday, August 29 at 1PM in the Fellowship Hall.
Email Dana for details.

MEN'S FRATERNITY |
|
Session Three starts Thursday,
Sept. 16 at
6 AM
in the
Fellowship Hall
Men's Fraternity is a series of three studies designed to help men develop a compelling
vision of masculinity that will bless both their lives and the lives of those around
them. The final DVD study in the series begins in September.
If you haven't been
to either of the previous sessions, you're still welcome to join the guys this year.
The format is simple:
Men meet weekly for 20 weeks for a 45-minute DVD teaching
session followed by 30 minutes of discussion in a small group. Guys are free to
talk openly and confidentially about what they've heard, and true God-centered
friendships are formed as men encourage each other to more fully embrace a godly
view of manhood.
We've seen many guys impacted by what they've experienced in Men's Fraternity during
the last two years. Don't miss out on this year's session entitled "The Great Adventure,"
which will be offered on Thursday mornings from 6 to 7:30 starting September 16.
Required workbooks will be available when the group meets at $10 each.
Don't miss this time-tested resource. It will help equip you to grow as you more
fully understand and pursue your desire for godly manhood.
Email Linda Harrison or call her at 495-1913 ext. 230
for more information check out Men's Fraternity on the KPC website.
