Sometimes God makes you chuckle. I began this series on Acts last fall . . . almost a year ago. Who would have known that on the very weekend that I was going to preach about Acts 27 and the great storm that Hurricane Irene would come to town. God surely has great timing.
As I write this "This Week," it's Friday afternoon and none of us know what the weekend will bring. Will the storm shift out to sea a bit and weaken? Will it come closer to shore and strengthen? As you read this email, those questions will have been answered.
What I do know as I write this email is that it is God who controls the weather. And I know that, though storms are a part of life (all kinds of storms), they come and go. And . . . while the storms come and go, God Himself is constant. Whatever you face this week in the way of cleanup and recovery, remember this . . . "Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Hebrews 13:8). He is just as fully Lord this week as He was last week. He is every bit as good. Every bit as compassionate. Every bit as powerful. Every bit as worthy of praise.
Make Him your focus this week . . . and of all the weeks of your life.

Grieving the death of a loved one isn't easy. It can be a long, even painful process. It helps when you don't have to grieve alone. GriefShare support groups are led by people who know what you're going through and want to help. Sessions are "self-contained," so you'll find encouragement whenever you begin.
KPC's first GriefShare Support Group will meet on Thursdays from 7-9 PM starting Sept 15.

Our awesome Middle School retreat is coming up on Sept 23-25 at Triple R Ranch! We'll enjoy teaching, worship, games, Wallyball, a campfire with S'mores, and great fellowship. If you're in 6th-8th grade, be sure to sign up with Deb Hill or email family.

Summertime is for relaxing, but fall's a time to refocus. To start the season right, we're planning a picnic on Ignition Sunday, Sept 11, at 1PM.
There'll be music, games, inflatables, burgers & hotdogs, and a dunk tank (with surprise dunkees)!
We'll remember those lost on 9/11 and give thanks for the freedom to enjoy ourselves as a church family.
Wear your shorts to church, plan a dish to share, and save the date. The countdown has started!

The contents of our Pictorial Directories have been delivered to KPC from Olan Mills. (Hooray!) It's only a matter of assembling them before you can pick up your copy.
Marcia Curtis has gathered a group of eager volunteers to do just that. The plan is to distribute them, when ready, in the Fellowship Hall. We'll let you know as SOON as they're ready!
